Following the success of 2015’s Qantas Codeshare Hackathon, the 2016 event is now open for applications. Last year’s event was an amazing experience for all involved, from participants, mentors and judges to all the Qantas subject matter experts, sponsors and executives who spent over 30 hours working through the challenges.
This year, we’ll be working with the Qantas team again, hosting the event at the Qantas Centre of Service Excellence in Sydney, running from 5-7 August 2016.
There are slight changes to the format, with briefings commencing on Friday night, ahead of the event. This will also give us the chance to form teams and make sure everyone is able to maximise their productive time during the course of the weekend.
The event is open to to aspiring and established developers to create apps, products and solutions that improve the lives of all travellers. There will be data feeds of fare information, hotels and destinations, and more, available for teams to use to drive their solutions. Up for grabs are flight vouchers and a chance to work with Qantas to bring your idea to life.
Opportunities beyond the hackathon
But it’s not just about winning the Qantas Codeshare Hackathon. Participating in the event opens doors to all kinds of opportunities. Many of the participants from the 2015 event continue to work with Qantas in various ways – one person was snapped up by the Qantas online team, and the second place winners, the Secret Lab, went on to work with Qantas to transform their MVP into the Qantas Joey Playbox, downloadable from the iTunes store.
Apply to be part of the Qantas Codeshare Hackathon
In another change to the format, there are various ways to be part of the Qantas Codeshare Hackathon:
- As a participant: designers and developers can register, form teams and pitch their MVPs and demos to judges and the public
- As an observer: get a feel for the way that hackathons can transform business and inspire innovation.
We may even have some Qantas staff willing to join teams.
The Qantas Codeshare Hackathon is open to only 50 people. Register your interest today.
